Are there any ways of downloading video's without

doing them in real time? I have been downloadin my

videos with a I'm Too DVD ripper and it makes a MPEG1

file out of it. I have over 40 songs on one DVD. So you

can see how long it takes just to download one. Any

help would be great.

Thanks Davie Lee

Do you mean transfering the videos from a DVD to a hard drive? I haven't understood you here...

Cheers!

There are several ways:

  • Navigate to the DVD from "My Computer" using the Folder View. Enter the "VIDEO_TS" folder inside the DVD and copy the VOB files it contains to a folder of your choice in the hard disk.

VOB files are just MPEG video files, so you could rename them to mpg if you want to.
  • Use a software to rip/reencode the DVD tracks to files in your hard disk. For instance the software SimpleDivX allows you to rip the tracks to DIVX or XVID video files.

Any of these ways is better than playing the videos directly from the DVD. The DVD drive is slow, an can cause the OS to be irresponsible while the drive is accessed. Also you can almost forget of playing two videos at the same time from the same DVD.

Hope this help you!

I have been "ripping" my Music DVD's using ImTOO DVD Ripper 4!..

It's works GREAT and is very FAST!!.. I've settled on ripping directly to Mpeg1, and it only takes about 1-2 minutes per video to rip, convert, and be ready to name and play!.. My older version of ImTOO DVD Ripper used to take hours and was slow as heck even to only rip one video and the quailty was not that great using Mpeg1... This new version ImTOO DVD Ripper 4 is simply a "must have" program if you plan on "ripping DVD music video"... I just riped a whole "promo only" video DVD (about 40 videos) in about 1 hour -vs- the old ImTOO DVD Ripper that would take up to 8-10 hours!,, SWEEEET!

They play perfectly with VD2 and 3 beta, and in all honesty I can't tell the difference in the VJ2 playback "riped" version and the original DVD! and that's only using Mpeg1!...

*I haven't Tried the .VOB copy past way yet, but I feel the ripping method is going to be better anyway, because ripping ussing ImTOO DVD Ripper 4 re-encodes the video and keeps most average length videos around a low 30-60 MB range so it helps conserve space and takes less time to load the vids into VJS :-)

So far I'm sold on this way of getting video from DVD to a HD... *I wish however "SOME COMPANY" like Promo Only would create a online download "pay" service that would let paying subcribers or users D/L whole videos already in a standard "High Quality" format that could be used in VJS without the need for ripping, nameing, etc... *Hint Hint RIAA!!!... The video record labels could make $BANK$ on this idea!.. , We are going to Rip anyway, so why not make it a for real legit service?

*KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EDY!!

HI guys,

One legal service exists in germany and it calls ‚MUVI’, but they provide the music videos only on DVD. I try to write an email to that company, probably it’s possible to download and pay the videos with an online shop.
