Hi All..

In Australia we have THREE main suppliers for music videos.
Nightlife, SBA Music and VISUALSOUNDS.

They market VCD's for DJ's and clubs, which are low quality, and DVD players have trouble with them (especially the burnt discs).

SBA and VISUALSOUNDS now supply DVD's to DJ's and clubs. Visualsounds also supply what they call HiMPG files that are pre-named and can load straight into computer - no ripping required.

Nightlife have a proprietry computer system which you must lease with there own software and video library, i think is MPEG 4.
SBA Music is supplying some digital formats to the likes of Casinos with computer run music clips, VCD and now DVD to DJ's and clubs.

What formats and companies do my fellow DJ's and VJ's around the world use?

Thanks for that David..

I've emailed Promoonly and await feedback if they'll supply me in Australia.
At the moment i'm setting up computer system with VCD and DVD library, going to use deejaysystem beta 4 version. Can't wait.
What players are available for a back-up if computer fails, all i've found so far is Numark DVD-01. The Australian importer says not to buy it.
Pioneer DVJX1 won't play a VCD and is overpriced anyway.

Also, i'm confused and having trouble with taking the copyright off Music DVD's.
Does promo only have the copyright on there DVD's?
Cheers Ray..

Hi David..

They have replied saying i must have a US mailing address to deal with them. I will wait to see how my current supplier has built there DVD library size.

I looked at the VOCO Pro about a year ago on US websites. No body in OZ imports them.
I have a Numark twin DJ CD player with Video boards for about six years now, but has lost the reliability. With technology i play more DVD's now so i have two Karaoke DVD players as well.

When i have more time i'll play around with the ripper software, thanks for that.

Cheers Ray..

Hi David..

They have three outlets, USA, Canada and London.
They say they can only supply to professionals in USA , Canada and Europe with there licensing agreements.
If i'm really serious i would need a USA mailing address and then have re-shipped to Australia.

Cheers Ray..

Hi Videoman

I have a VCD library made of about the last twelve years, which spans back to the 60's.

Now i receive DVD's every month from a company called Visualsounds in Sydney, i persuaded them to start selling in DVD format. They mainly do HiMPEG which you download from disc straight onto computer (no ripping).

I'm just finishing my new system, replacing everything, some of which is nearly twenty years old!

It's really good! Cheers Ray..

Are these videos available to the US, or is it like the promo only guys are and not willing to share? If you have any specific company info would you send it to streetelite@bellsouth.net? Thanks!

Videoman..

I don't know what the legalities are for the export of music DVD or whatever. You will need to ask them, actually i will ask next week!
their website is www.visualsounds.com.au
But i think they will be too expensive with freight and behind the states.
Promoonly sounds great being able to download soon.

Cheers Ray..

Hi Videoman..

Licencing laws restrict legal movement of music material over international borders.

Cameron at Visualsounds emailed me the most recent Australian guidelines which are to be looked at for updating Copyright laws in Australia. There is nothing listed to change access over international borders, only format shifting of material.

Cheers Ray..
